1. Create your account
Register on the website. Use this account to sign in to the game and the website. Read the server rules before playing.
2. Download and install the client
Start with the new client with launcher. It offers improved graphics, automatic updates and configurable performance settings. Downloads also keeps the previous client as a fallback.
- Extract all files into a separate folder; keep client versions apart.
- Run Launcher.exe from that folder, select Main and let updates finish.
- Sign in with your MuMat account and start the game.
For Linux with Wine and an experimental MacBook / CrossOver setup, see MU Online on Linux and macOS. Linux has been tested; macOS compatibility is not yet verified.
3. Choose a character and start playing
Sign in to the game with the account you created. Create or select your character; the server offers five classes. The About page explains the server’s class balance, equipment adjustments and other features.
Experience rates are dynamic, so use the current server information rather than a fixed rate from an old guide. Check the character ranking and online players to see activity on the server.
4. Resets, grand resets and epochs
Sign in to the website and select your character to use the Reset and Grand Reset sections. Check the displayed requirements and rewards before performing an action: these sections show the conditions applicable to your character.
An epoch is a period between wipes. Read Epochs and all-time storage for the published conditions, and check your account’s all-time storage for your own progress. Historical dates and published plans are not a substitute for the current conditions shown on the website.
5. Events, equipment and trading
- Find event times in the event schedule.
- Consult item drops and server features for equipment and event rewards.
- Buy or sell equipment on the player item market.
- Use the currency exchange to trade Zen and wCoins with other players.
If the game does not start
Check that the archive downloaded completely and that you extracted all files. Start Launcher.exe from the client folder, not from inside the archive, and allow updates to finish. If you use the BETA, check that Main is selected.
If you still need help, use the website chat. Include your client version, the error message and the step where the problem occurs. BETA crashes are reported automatically; other problems need your description.
